Jan Nelson

Jan Nelson artist was born in Glasgow and brought up on the East coast of Scotland. She is a self-taught artist who studied for three years at Leith School of Art in Edinburgh and has painted for over 30 years. Starting on a part time basis, Jan earned a living in the world of commerce until, encouraged by the popularity of her original paintings, she took up her full-time career as an artist in 2008.

The inspiration for Jan Nelson original paintings

Jan Nelson’s time is divided between working from the studio in the lovely East Neuk of Fife and visiting Britain’s coastline to sail. Regular trips around the country are made to observe the changing scenery and seascapes which provide Jan with new ideas and inspiration for her paintings.

Movement and colour

Jan Nelson is an accomplished painter with a passion for movement and colour. Her chosen subject matter is nature which frequently focuses on the sea and sailing with the occasional landscape scene of the countryside. Jan’s signature style is complete with her vibrant, polychromatic palette and impasto technique.

With her work in numerous private collections worldwide, Jan Nelson exhibits regularly throughout the United Kingdom and internationally.
