Eye of The Tiger by Amy Louise, Original Painting
Eye of the Tiger, by Amy Louise framed original painting.
Amy Louise’s fashion background continues to inspire her contemporary animal paintings. In a similar way to textile-design creations, Amy builds and develops characters to seemingly provide each creature with his or her own ‘costume’ and personality. Employing a painting technique that is both energetic and precise, the artist works in layers. Many of her pieces incorporate vibrant colours for the characters which contrast against the neutral ‘Farrow and Ball’ backgrounds and a bold bitumen outline.
Amy Louise is a contemporary, British Artist who creates quirky, witty and whimsical animal portraits.
Art and Fashion Background
Having turned down a place to study English Literature at University, Amy Louise instead pursued her passion and entered her Art Foundation Year at Lincoln Art College. Determined, Amy Louise travelled two hours by bus each day to attend the course where she experimented with various creative practises in a range of materials.
Realising her passion for textiles, the artist studied Fashion Design at the University of Lincoln. Following graduation in 2011, Amy Louise completed a residency in Sweden which involved designing and making elaborate costumes for Carnival dancers at a festival.
Today, Amy Louise’s fashion background continues to inspire her contemporary animal paintings. In a similar way to textile-design creations, Amy builds and develops each creature so that they seemingly possess unique characteristics.
Art by Amy Louise Today
Amy Louise became a full-time, professional, artist in 2017. Based at her studio in Milton Keynes, Amy creates unique animal paintings using a mixed media process. Many of her characters contrast against the ‘Greene Paint Company’ backgrounds and a bold bitumen outline. The artist brings her works to life by lovingly adding the finishing touches of metallic highlights and a high-gloss finish.
There is something magical and life-like about these cheeky, yet charming, creatures. You could have a taste of paradise from an exotic bird sitting comfortably next to a British Hare.
