Transported Down Memory Lane
In conjunction with Lymm’s Historic Transport Day on Sunday 23rd June 2019, there was the opportunity to meet Lymm-based artist, P. F. Bennett GMA, at the gallery.
About The Artist
Paul Frederick Bennett (P. F. Bennett) is a Cheshire-based Artist and member of the prestigious Guild of Motoring Artists (GMA). Having produced personalised car commissions for motor car dealerships including Rolls Royce and Bentley, his art has landed with a host of A-list Celebrities including Roman Abramovich, Amanda Holden, Tyson Fury and Des O’Connor to name a few.
A professional artist, designer and illustrator for over 50 years, P.F. Bennett was born in 1948 and grew up in Stretford, South Manchester. Treasuring his memory of meeting the famous L.S. Lowry whilst Bennett studied Art and Design at Salford School of Art, he remains significantly inspired by Lowry to this day.
Now, P. F. Bennett paints from his studio in Lymm, Cheshire. Using a combination of watercolour and pencil, Bennett continually listens to music whilst reminiscing his days growing up in the North of England. His rapidly growing collector-base, group exhibitions and representation has extended Cheshire and includes: London, France and Ireland.
Art by P.F. Bennett depicts life growing up in Northern England. Taking us on a journey of nostalgia, a charming narrative is portrayed with a single splash of colour against an industrial, monochrome backdrop. Describing himself as a ‘Petrol Head’, it is not surprising that classic modes of transport are often featured in Bennett’s art. However, as viewers, we are invited to take a closer look at another of the artist’s inspirations; music. Bennett includes subtle references or ‘clues’ to an individual song title, and the respective artist or group, within each artwork narrative.
