Jane Chinea

Born in the North West of England Jane spent most of her adult life working in deprived areas with young children and their families. She found various artistic pursuits a welcome diversion during these years. After achieving a long held ambition of attaining a 1st Class Hons Degree in Fine Art, Jane successfully took the plunge, working as a full time professional artist. Her work has since become highly sought after and she now has work private collections in both the UK and abroad.

Jane’s work has evolved through her personal investigation into the allure of natural form, real and imagined, obvious and ambiguous. Jane is currently working with realistic figure charcoals and portraits, ranging from descriptive to the surreal, using these to creating a duality of readings within her work.

In her current pieces she has developed a completely unique and unusual hybrid drawing which relies on the viewer’s responses to fragility, vulnerability, beauty and of course the capacity to look beyond initial perceptions. These delicate pieces are each individually cut and hand coloured by the artist.

Jane is a multi-disciplinary artist, using both traditional and modern techniques she has exhibited to high acclaim a diverse variety of work using varied media, involving drawing, painting, sculpture, print, book art, installation and photography.

4 pieces of her work were recently featured in a popular ITV drama, staring Ray Winstone.
